| Description | This early elementary level science study group is for those who love taking things apart to see how they work. We’ll explore the basic mechanics of inclined planes, levers, wheels, gears, pulleys, springs, and more using hands-on activities, diagrams, and videos. We’ll see how simple machines function in our everyday lives and maybe even learn how to put some of them back together. This study group will need to be a cooperative effort if it’s going to run. If you plan to enroll your child in it, please plan to spend some time helping out. We’ll coordinate our efforts to make sure each parent, science geek or not, is prepared to contribute in a way that’s comfortable for him or her: leading or assisting some days, getting books or videos from the library, preparing materials for hands-on projects, etc. |
