Description The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. From Cindy Hughes, the instructor: “We would run class time and physical practice for the first 6-7 classes and then have simulation where the girls practice what they learned in a realistic situation with a trained simulator. Class talk is basically about avoiding dangerous situations, what to do if you find yourself in a situation and safely get out of it, being aware of surroundings, etc. Our goal is that avoidance can be successful in at least 90% of the time to stay safe. The other 10% is the physical skills learned which are easy to remember, easy to administer and we give them enough to learn so that if one thing doesn't work, they have another tool they can draw upon. We do spend more than half the time with the physical skills and simulation seems to be everyone's favorite part of the program. We do request that students were comfortable clothes and sneakers to practice the physical drills.

All state colleges in Massachusetts offer RAD classes on their campuses which I think is wonderful. I also bring all kinds of information that students are welcome to keep for their reference.”

This study group is open to mothers also, on a space available basis.

It is requested that students wear comfortable clothes and sneakers to practice the physical drills.
