Description Don't have time for three years of law school? Then take this study group to get an overview of the legal system and learn what really goes on in a courtroom. We will study some of the basic principles of the law, such as Tort Law (what constitutes an assault), Property and Real Estate (good fences make good neighbors), Contracts and Commercial Law (offer, acceptance AND consideration) and Constitutional Law (is there an express right to privacy?). Other areas of the law will be covered per student interest, including Family Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law or Employment Law. The format will follow a two-step approach for each subject: first read case studies for homework and discuss the legal reasoning in one meeting to be followed by a mini mock trial in the next meeting. The differences between federal, state and municipal law will also be covered. No LSAT will be required!!
