| Description | Special Note: Although introductory, this study group is for the curious kid who wants to think about and discuss big, challenging concepts in science. Introductory History of Science with a hands-on component. The inspiration for this study group is the Inventors' Specials DVDs. Every other week we will watch one of the Inventors' Specials and the following week we will discuss more about the scientist's life and do a hands-on experiment or project that helps us understand the work of that inventor or scientist. The scientists covered include Newton, Da Vinci, Curie, Galileo, Edison and Einstein. The study group is one hour, but will be scheduled so that we can extend the study group into lunch hour when needed, as 3 of the movies are 90 minutes. There is a minimal/moderate homework requirement. |
