What is Voyagers?

Voyagers is a homeschooling resource center administered by Voyagers, Incorporated, currently operating in Acton, Massachusetts. Voyagers is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that seeks to provide resources and a sense of community to support homeschooling families in Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

As we are not a school, we do not keep academic records, prescribe curricula, or assign grades. Families who participate in our programs retain full responsibility for their children's education. Voyagers is a place where homeschooling families come together for study, interest groups, companionship, special events, and performances. Voyagers supports children in their individuality. Participation in programs is based on ability and interest rather than age. Activities may include a wide age range, from younger children through adult. Most study groups, clubs, and activities are designed by Voyagers member families and are taught by parents and students. Several offerings are typically taught by paid contractors. Offerings change each session based on input from member families.

History

Voyagers Inc. was founded in 1999 by a small group of homeschooling families looking for a place where they could pursue their interests at their own pace, in a supportive community. The group has grown to include over 80 families from across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Future

Voyagers, Inc. has occupied our new space in Acton, Massachusetts since Fall 2004. As we become more comfortable in our new home, we hope to expand our offerings to include a homeschooling resource library, new support group activities, and outside events.
