Fall Shakespeare 2009:
Writing Romeo and Ethel!

Some of you may have already heard that the Voyagers Shakespeare Company will be producing Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter for our Fall 2009 show.

Just one small problem: Shakespeare didn’t write that play. So we’re going to!

Therefore, we are seeking scribes, writers, playwrights, plotters, and schemers to help us to craft a 5 act Shakespearean play in time for it to be rehearsed starting in September!

Each writer will be given a rough plot of a scene, a sense of the whole play, and some of the characters who would be in that scene, though not all of them. The writer will also be given a writing mentor to help wrestle with the form, the progression, and whatever else may come up.

As scenes are finished, writers may be given another scene to work on or may join in the editing process, as we create a cohesive whole from disparate elements. The bulk of our work will be done over the internet, though some or all of us may get together a couple of times over the summer. The fee for members is $5, and $10 for non-members.

If you are interested in helping to create the script for this work, make a note on the printed registration form before you mail it in with the fee, and send Josh an email at josh_shaine@yahoo.com. You can begin writing as soon as you let Josh know, so register now!

If you are not a Voyagers member, then just send Josh an email expressing your interest and you will get a registration form back.
