| Description |
This is an introductory Philosophy discussion group. Philosophy is the use of the human intellect to answer Big Questions: What is real and what is not? How do we know what we know? How should we live? In this group, we'll find out what some very smart people have said about such matters, and use their ideas as the starting point for discussions of our own ideas. Our own ideas might even change a bit, as time goes by.
There are no particular prerequisites for this group, but we'll be reading and (I hope) arguing rationally about some fairly difficult passages from people like Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Pascal, Locke, Hume, and so forth. The exact material we discuss will depend on what the group finds interesting.
