| Description | Egyptology will be a group that combines science, history and art for kids with skills in the 5th to 8th grade level. It is based upon the study guide supplied by the Museum of Science to accompany the Mummies Omni movie. It is a hands-on group, with activities such as making apple mummies, death masks and scarobs, as well as extracting DNA from our own saliva. Obviously this group is not for the extremely queasy! We will also have a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts (probably on a Wednesday afternoon because its free) to check out their mummies and Egyption artifacts. I would like to go see the Mummies movie, but it is no longer showing at the MOS - I'll have to check into that. I do not expect the kids to do a lot of reading or homework for this one, but there is some fairly technical stuff. |
