| Description | This early elementary level and early middle school level study group is for those who like understanding how things work and how to build things. We’ll explore the basic mechanics of inclined planes, levers, wheels, gears, pulleys, springs, and more using hands-on activities, diagrams, and videos. We’ll see how simple machines function in our everyday lives and then we'll apply our new knowledge and skills to build a 4- or 5-step Rube Goldberg machine. This study group will use various building toys such as legos, knex, zoobs, gears and everyday household items to create structures that can be used in the Rube Goldberg contraption. Format is hands-on with no homework required. |
